RPS on Windows 10 is supported?

Hello, in Release Notes v6.5 Update 2 is:

  • If you install Arcserve UDP RPS Server on Windows 10, and manage more than 5 nodes you may experience deployment failure or job failures.
  • Note: Arcserve UDP uses Windows share to save backup data. Windows 10 has a limitation for the concurrent connections to network share.

RPS is supported on Windows 10 ?

I'm sorry, but I have to veto here: the RPS is not officially supported on Windows 10.

It has legal reasons, more than technical. For details, please check the Microsoft Windows 10 EULA here :

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Useterms/Retail/Windows/10/UseTerms_Retail_Windows_10_English.htm

(Section 2. Installation and Use Rights -> c. Restrictions -> (v) use the software as server software ...)

That's also why in the compatibility matrix in the RPS section the Windows 10 is not listed.
The small note in the release notes should have not get published as such - I will ask for it to get removed..

Hello, I don't understand it, in EULA:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Useterms/Retail/Windows/10/UseTerms_Retail_Windows_10_English.htm

in "Multi use scenarios" section is:

Device connections. You may allow up to 20 other devices to access the software installed on the licensed device for the purpose of using the following software features: file services, print services, Internet information services, and Internet connection sharing and telephony services on the licensed device. You may allow any number of devices to access the software on the licensed device to synchronize data between devices. This section does not mean, however, that you have the right to install the software, or use the primary function of the software (other than the features listed in this section), on any of these other devices.

I understand if up to 20 devices may be using this. Arcserve UDP uses Windows share to save backup data.
