arcserve-KB : RHA | RHA Manager || How to silently install the Control Service with a named account from the command line

Last Update: 2016-12-28 11:01:24 UTC
Description:
If user has to install the Control Service/RHA manager on many servers, we can speed up the process by installing the same from command line.  Below are the commands to install the Control Service as either the primary or secondary RHA manager host.

Solution:
To install the Control Service as the primary manager host in a command line, go to the directory that contains the RHA Manager/Control service executable installation file and run this command:

CAARCserveRHAManager.exe /s /v' /qn XOLOGIN=<DomainOrHostname>\<Username> XOPASSWORD=<Password> ServiceUserName=<DomainOrHostname>\<Username> ServicePassword=<Password> LOCALACCOUNT=No XO_CS_HA_ROLE=primary'

*Note, the above command is to install the Control service with a named account.  The Control Service doesn't do anything that would require any permissions so local system is fine for this service unless you require it to use a named account.

If you want to install the Control Service as a backup/secondary manager, use the following:

CAARCserveRHAManager.exe /s /v' /qn XOLOGIN=<DomainOrHostname>\<Username> XOPASSWORD=<Password> ServiceUserName=<DomainOrHostname>\<Username> ServicePassword=<Password> LOCALACCOUNT=No XO_CS_HA_ROLE=secondary'

You can verify if it is installed as a secondary by checking the startup type of the control service in services, it should be manual instead of automatic.

If you want to install the control service with the default options which would use a local system account for it, use the below command:

CAARCserveRHAManager.exe /S '/v/qn XOLOGIN=<DomainOrHostname>/<Username> XOPASSWORD=<Password> XOLANG='1033'
