arcserve-KB : P00000556 | | Compressed files are sometimes corrupted when restored

Last Update: 2016-12-14 01:52:14 UTC

Problem Summary:

Files are corrupted when they are restored by File Level Restore from the backup tape of Image Option or Agent for Virtual Machine.

This problem sometimes happens if the file is compressed by the file property "Compress contents to save disk space". It is observed with image files like .PNG, .JPG, etc... .

After applying this fix, these messages will be recorded to Image*.log in LOG folder :
--------
File[&ltfile name&gt]
ulValidDataLengthInClusters is &ltnum&gt
ulVCN [&ltnum&gt] + ulClusters[&ltnum&gt] &gt (llValidDataLength)[&ltnum&gt], remain as is
---------
These messages mean "&ltfile name&gt had been corrupted when File-Level-restored if this fix wasn't applied".

Note:
1. This problem doesn't happen if the data is restored by Image Level restore.
2. To resolve this problem, please take new backup after applying this fix.
