arcserve-KB : Appliance | Factory Reset of an appliance fails to complete and displays error 1002.

Last Update: 2017-02-08 09:32:23 UTC
Problem:   Factory Reset of an appliance fails to complete and displays error 1002.

Symptom: When for technical reasons, you perform a Factory reset using the option available on the Arcserve UDP console, the process does not complete and reports that Factory reset encountered a serious error 1002. Please contact Arcserve Technical support for assistance.

Solution: The Factory reset is defined to work with certain supported languages.
As a first step before performing the factory reset, verify if the Locale where the appliance currently is set to, supports the factory reset, which is defined in the solution below and follow the process to set it to a supported language before you perform the factory reset.

If you are already at the above screen/error, restart the system and follow the process below.
Run the command “get-winsystemlocale” through Windows PowerShell on the appliance. This will notify which setting is the appliance set to.

Following are the supported LCID’s to complete the Factory reset:

Chinese (Simplified)

“set-winsystemlocale <CultureInfo>”
For example:

After Reboot, perform the Factory Reset
