arcserve-KB : Failed to connect to the database. Verify that CA Arcserve central applications service and database are running

Problem:

On console for HBBU, when we click on Policies or access any other option, it fails with the following messages
 
Error Message:
“Failed to connect to the database. Verify that CA Arcserve central applications service and database are running.”

Environment:

HBBU (Host Based Backup) R16.5 Update 2
Windows 2008 R2

Symptom:

On console for HBBU, when we click on Policies or access any other option, it fails with the following messages,

“Failed to connect to the database. Verify that CA Arcserve central applications service and database are running.

Confirm the database configuration settings are correct “

“Failed to load Policy data”

“The web server encountered an error”

Solution:

Perform the following steps to resolve the problem:

- Stopped Services for CA Arcserve Central Application and CA Arcserve D2D Web service.

- Copied the files LogXXX.dat located under, C:\Program files\CA\Arcserve Central Application\Configuration\VSPHERE_DB\Log to another folder.

- Restarted Arcserve Central Application and Arcserve D2D Webservice.

- Connected to the console for HBBU. Went to Policies and we are able to see the Policies. Also tried browsing to

'Configuration' and we are able to access configuration.
