Description:
Conversion Rules for Arcserve UDP Virtual Standby Job

Solution:
The following conversion rules are followed for a Virtual Standby job for the Destination Hypervisors as below:

(1) MS Hyper-V

The Virtual Standby conversion will always be to IDE as it does not support boot from SCSI

Following Exceptions to be noted:

If the source is UEFI and Windows OS version is 2012, 2012 R2, win8(x64bit), win8.1(x64bit) and destination Hypervisor is Hyper-V 2012 R2,  then the Standby VM created will be G2 version with SCSI disk (instead of IDE)

Note: In the above if the destination Hypervisor is Hyper-V 2012, then the case is not supported.

(2) VMware

The Virtual Standby Conversion will follow below rule.

IDE -> IDE

SCSI -> LSI Logic Parallel

SAS -> SAS

Others -> LSI Logic Parallel

Following Exceptions to be noted:

• If source OS is MS 2012, then the VSB VM will create a SAS disk

• On the Convertor Node, based on this registry, the disk controller will be created
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CA\ARCserve Unified Data Protection\Engine\OfflineCopy\VSBDiskController\[Node ID]

'DiskController'='SCSI“, “SAS” or “IDE”
