Solution:-
  • While trying to import Virtual Machines from the VCenter Server, the following error is seen 'The application cannot communicate with the ESX Server.'.
  • Try to ping the VCenter both using name and IP Address from the Proxy Server and Management Console.
  • Install VSphere Client on the Proxy Server and try to connect the VCenter Server. Access the Virtual Machine through Console, the following error would be seen “Failed to connect :902”.
  • Also run telnet  to port 902 and check if the port is open.
  • This problem could happen when ESX Server is behind the firewall and port 902 is not open.
  • Open port 902 on the ESX Servers.
  • Now the Virtual Machines can be accessed using VSphere Client and the backups should also work working fine.
