Error Message:

ARCserve 16.5 for windows

E3852 Media has reached the maximum number of sessions

In Tape.log :

FSD: FSD_SyncTapeHeaderToFile(): write header file failed DeviceNumber[3], LastError[87]

Error 87 means that paramer passed is incorrect

Description:

This can happen with specific disk drive configurations (usually RAID systems) hosting the folder used to store an arcserve disk device.

Solution:

Please add the following value in the registry and restart  the Tape engine:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\Base\TapeEngine\CONFIG

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ ComputerAssociates \ CA ARCserve Backup \ Base \ TapeEngine\CONFIG
