Title:  Install the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Replication Engine Using the Remote Installation Utility

Description:

This document details how to push out an installation of the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Replication Engine to remote hosts using the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Remote Installation Utility.

Solution:

  1. Launch the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Manager.

    Figure 1
  2. 'Click' the Remote Installer Monitor tab below the Toolbar to launch the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Remote Installation Utility.

    1. This utility can be used to remotely install the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Replication Engine on any server in your environment which you want to involve in a CA ARCserve RHA r15 Replication and High Availability Scenario.
  3. 'Right-Click' the blank field and you will see the Launch Remote Installer button appear.

    Figure 2
  4. 'Left-click' the Launch Remote Installer to launch the Remote Installer Wizard.

    Figure 3
  5. 'Click' on the Start host discovery button.

    Figure 4
  6. Once the hosts in your environment have populated the Discovered Hosts field, you can select the specific hosts which you want to push out an installation of the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Replication Engine too.

    • You can choose to either 'double-click' the host, or highlight and select the Add button.

      Figure 5
  7. Once the Hosts which you want to install the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Replication Engine are listed in the 'Select Hosts' field, 'click' Next.

    Figure 6
  8. You will be prompted to provide credentials to be used for the installation process on the Remote Hosts.

    1. You can choose use the account which you used to authenticate to the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Control Service (Current User), or you can specify a Domain User Account.

      1. If you want to use a different account to push out the installation on the servers, then select the 'The Following User:' radio button and populate the 'User Name', 'Password', and 'Domain' fields.
    2. Regardless of whether you choose to use the account you specified when authenticating to the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Control Service, the account used to push out and perform the installation MUST be a member of the Local Administrators Group on both servers. Being either a Local or Domain User account which is a member of either a Local or Domain Group which is a member of the Local Administrators group would be sufficient.

      1. If you are using a Local User Account, the same account name must be configured on the servers and must be assigned the same exact password.
    3. You MUST be logged onto the servers which the XOsoft Replication engine is being installed using the SAME account which was specified to be used to push the installation out.

      1. Simply having the account listed in the Local Administrators group is not sufficient. The target serves must actually be actively logged onto using the same account at the time of the remote installation.
    4. When you have selected the appropriate credentials to be used for the installation process, 'click' Next.

      Figure 7
  9. You will be prompted to assign a Service Account to the CA XOsoft Engine service, which will be configured on all of the hosts which the CA ARCserve RHA r15 Replication is being installed.

    • Select the LOCAL SYSTEM ACCOUNT radio button to set the CA XOsoft Engine service to use LOCAL SYSTEM.
    • Select the 'This Account' radio button to specify an account you would like to assign to the CA XOsoft Engine service.
    • If this is an UPGRADE to an existing CA XOsoft Replication Engine, you can choose to keep the existing account which is currently assigned to the CA XOsoft Engine service by selecting the 'Use the Service Log On Accounts of Existing Installations' checkbox.
    • If you have a license for the CDP Repository, then you will need to select the 'Install CDP Repository Support' checkbox in order to also push out an installation of the CDP Repository as well as the Replication Engine.
    • CA XOsoft communicates using TCP port 25000 by default. If you choose to use another port other than port 25000, that can be modified in the 'PORT NUMBER' field.
    • It is strongly recommended to leave the default port as 25000.
  10. When you are done populating the Installation Settings, click Next.

    Figure 8
  11. On the 'Ready to Install' screen, confirm that the hosts listed in the 'Install on Hosts' field are the correct hosts which you want to install the CA XOsoft Replication Engine.
  12. 'Click' Install to confirm the installation on these hosts.

    Figure 9
  13. 'Click' Yes to begin the installation process.

    Figure 10
  14. The Remote Installer progress window will open to show you the progress of the installation process.

    Figure 11
  15. Once the installation is completed you will see the status updated in the Remote Installer field.
  16. 'Click' Close to conclude the installation process.

    Figure 12
  17. You will be brought back to the 'Remote Installer Monitor' and you will see the results of the most recent escalation at the top of the screen.
  18. 'Click' Scenario View to begin creating and managing your CA ARCserve RHA r15 scenarios.
