Title:  How to add new Stores/Groups to a CA XOsoft Ha for Exchange Scenario?

Description:

There sometimes is a need to expand the Master Exchange server by adding additional stores or storage groups and this article explains the steps needed to reconfigure the Replica host and the scenario.

Solution:

To configure the replica this can be done using any of the three ways:

  • Create a new scenario.

    1. Open the CA XOsoft Manager.
    2. Remove the original scenario by right clicking on the scenario in the left-hand pane and then click remove.
    3. From the CA XOsoft Manager, choose Scenario, New or click the New Scenario button.
    4. When the Welcome dialog opens, select Create New Scenario and click Next.
    5. When the Select Scenario Type dialog opens, select the same type of Exchange scenario that you had previously (High Availability (HA) Scenario or Disaster Recovery (DR), and/or Replica Integrity Testing for Assured Recovery (optional) For more information on any of these options, see the CA XOsoft User Guide).
    6. When the Master and Replica hosts dialog opens, name your scenario and provide the hostname or IP address for the same Master and Replica servers from the previous scenario that you are updating.
    7. If you selected to verify the engines wait for Engine Verification to complete. If needed, click Install to upgrade the Engine on one or both servers and then click Next.
    8. The Database for Replication dialog opens, listing all auto-discovered results for the specified Master. By default, all databases are included. Change selections to exclude anything you do not wish to replicate and then click Next.

    9. From the Replica Configuration dialog, click Next to automatically configure Exchange on the Replica to match the Master.

    10. At this point the CA XOsoft auto-configuration component verifies that the Exchange Server configuration on the Master and Replica servers will be identical during the replication procedure and will create and configure the newly added Storage group(s) and/or Store(s). The actions that will be performed during the configuration process are indicated in the Action column on the right.
    11. Then continue with the scenario creation process. For more information on the remainder of the properties, see the CA XOsoft User Guide.

    OR
  • Manually add the new storage group(s) and/or stores(s) using Exchange System Manager (Exchange 2003) or Exchange Management Console (2007).

    • Make sure that all Exchange log prefixes and directory structure for the flat files are identical to the Master servers.6.
