Description:

This document details how to perform a local upgrade of the CA XOsoft Replication Engine from CA XOsoft r12.0 to CA XOsoft r12.5.

Solution:

  1. Decompress the Installation Files and copy them to a local Directory on the host which you are going to install the CA XOsoft r12.5 for replication.
  2. STOP ALL RUNNING SCENARIOS ON THIS SERVER.
  3. Browse to the directory with the CA XOsoft r12.5 Installation Files and open the 'Install' Directory.
  4. Run 'SETUP.EXE' to launch the 'CA XOsoft r12.5 Product Installation Browser'

  5. 'Click' 'INSTALL COMPONENTS'

  6. 'Click' 'INSTALL CA XOSOFT ENGINE'

  7. Browse for the Language to be used for the installation, then 'click' 'OK'

  8. The CA XOsoft Installation Wizard will prompt you that you are about to start an installation of the CA XOsoft Engine. 'Click' 'NEXT'

  9. The CA XOsoft Installation Wizard will detect a previous version of CA XOsoft Installed and notify you. The installation of the CA XOsoft r12.5 Engine will completely overwrite the CA XOsoft r12.0 installation. To proceed with the installation of the CA XOsoft r12.5 Engine, 'Click' 'NEXT'

  10. Enter the 'User name' and 'Company Name' in the CUSTMER INFORMATION SCREEN. Then 'click' 'NEXT'

  11. In the CUSTOM SETUP screen, you can choose the directory in which you would like to install the CA XOsoft Engine. Select the 'CHANGE' button to browse to the directory of your choice.

    • The CDP Repository is disabled by default. The CDP Repository is an 'Add-On' feature which will require an specific license to run. The CDP Repository will allow the recovery of individual E-mail messages, however it IS NOT required to configure and run either a Disaster Recovery Replication or High Availability scenario.

      To install the CDP Repository in Addition to the Replication Engine

      1. 'click' the drop-drown next to 'CDP Repository'

      2. Select either 'This Feature Will Be Installed on Local Hard drive' or 'This Feature, and all Sub-features, Will Be Installed on Local Hard drive'
  12. When done with Custom Setup, 'click' 'NEXT'

  13. In the SERVICE LOGON INFORMATION screen, you can choose the service account you want to assign to the CA XOsoft Engine. You can choose to assign 'Local System' or you can assign either a Local or Domain user account. After assigning the account to be used for the CA XOsoft Engine, 'click' 'NEXT'

  14. At the 'Ready to Install the Program' screen 'click' 'INSTALL'

  16. You can now choose to install additional CA XOsoft r12.5 components using the CA XOsoft Installation Browser.
  17. When you are done, select 'EXIT'
