Description:

This document details how to create a CA ARCserve RHA r15 High Availability Scenario for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

Solution:

  1. Open up the CA ARCserve RHA Manager, click on Scenario in the menu bar and select 'New'.

     

  2. Click on the radio button beside 'Create a New Scenario' and continue with the default scenario group or create or select an existing group 



  3. Select the Server Type (File Server), Product Type (HA). 



  4. Name the scenario (optional) and enter in the Hostname or IP address for the Master and Replica Servers. 



  5. Scenario wizard then prompts for the username and password for Master and Replica server. 



  6. Scenario wizard then checks if the engine is installed on both master and replica. 



  7. Select the Root Directories on the Master host by putting a check mark in the check box beside it. 



  8. Select the replica root directories. 



  9. The scenario properties screen provides recommended default values which can be edited as required 



  10. The Master and Replica Properties screen allows customization on a per node basis 



  11. The switchover properties tab (HA Scenario only) will allow selection of CA RHA Network Redirection Methods including DNS, Move IP and Host Rename. 



  12. The Switchover and Reverse Replication Initiation screen gives the options to switchover automatically or manually and to start replication automatically or manually after switchover completes. 



  13. Scenario verification screen will show if the scenario has been validated without error, or if user intervention is required. 



  14. The Scenario Run screen will give the user one last opportunity to validate all scenario settings in an easy to view report.

    • The user can select Run Now to start he scenario immediately or Finish to start the scenario at a later date.
