This document explains the step by step process of creating a Full System HA scenario to replicate to a Hyper-V server.


  1. Open the CA ARCserve RHA Manager and on the menu bar click 'Scenario' and then 'New'.

  2. Select 'Create a New Scenario'. Click 'Next'.

  3. On the Select Server and Product Type screen, select the options below and then click 'Next'

    • Full System (Server Type)

    • High Availability Scenario (HA) (Product Type)

    • Integrity Testing for Assured Recovery (AR) (Tasks on Replica)

  4. On the Master and Replica Hosts screen provide the following information.

    • Master Hostname/IP(Source)

    • Select 'Hyper-V' from the 'Server Type' drop down

    • Hyper-V Hostname/IP(Replica).

  5. RHA will check if the Engine is installed on the selected hosts. Click 'Next'.

  6. Select the volumes you want to protect on the Master Server.

  7. You may change the location of the Virtual Machine here. The default location where RHA will store the Virtual Machine on the Replica Hyper-V server is 'C:\Users\Public\ARCserve RHA\'. Click 'Next'.

  8. Default values are already set for scenario properties. Click 'Next'.

  9. The Master and Replica Properties screen appears. Click 'Next' to keep all the defaults or make changes to properties as necessary.

  10. Switchover properties are configured in this step, click 'Next' after configuring the properties.

    • Switch 'On' Redirect DNS

    • Configure Network Mappings between the Master and Replica server.

  11. The Switchover and Reverse Replication screen appears. Click 'Next' after configuring whether you want Automatic or Manual Switchover.

  12. The Scenario Verification screen appears. Click 'Next'.

  13. Click 'Run Now' to start the scenario now or 'Finish' to start the scenario at a later time.
