Title:  Upgrading to ARCserve RHA R16

Description:

This document explains how to upgrade to ARCserve RHA R16 from a previous version.

Solution:

R16 is a full installation of the product.

You can install all components of R16 fresh or install them on top of a previous version and the upgrade will occur automatically. Any XOsoft\RHA Engine at version 12.x or higher will not require a reboot after the installation\upgrade.

Upgrading Control Service

  1. Close out any running instances of the RHA Manger (ws_gui.exe).

  2. Run the setup.exe within the R16 installation package.

    Figure 1

    1. Select Install Components.

    2. Select Install CA ARCserve RHA Control Service.

    3. You will then be prompted to upgrade the RHA Control Service.

      Figure 2

  3. Hit Yes on the prompt and continue through the installation as usual.

Upgrading CA ARCserve RHA Engine (Remote Installation)

As part of the upgrade of the Control Service, the R16 Engine installers are copied to the Program Files (x86)\CA\ARCserve RHA\Manager\install directory.

To install\upgrade the RHA Engine via the remote installer do the following:

  1. Within the RHA Manager Select Tools > Remote Installer

  2. Discover or Manually add Engine nodes to be installed\upgraded

  3. Remote installer will detect previous RHA Engines and give option to upgrade

Port considerations for using RHA Remote Installation:

The below ports need to be open on any firewalls between the CA RHA Control Service server and the CA RHA Engine servers.

  • TCP Protocol requires ports 25000, 1025, 2666 & 2660

  • UDP Protocol requires ports 135, 137, & 138

Upgrading CA ARCserve RHA Engine (Local Installation)

  1. Run the setup.exe within the R16 installation package

  2. Select Install Components

  3. Select Install CA ARCserve RHA Engine

  4. You will then be prompted to upgrade the RHA Engine

    Figure 4

  5. Hit Yes on the prompt and continue through the installation as usual.

TIP: Since as part of the upgrade of the Control Service, the R16 Engine installers are copied to the Program Files (x86)\CA\ARCserve RHA\Manager\install directory. You can also map to this location and install the 32 Bit or 64 Bit Engine from there as well.
