Title:  How to deal with the computers having multiple IP addresses in ARCserve Backup Software?

Description:

This document will talk about how to identify which IP should be to use to Add the server in the backup manager and how to specify a NIC to use backups to avoid the interference with production bandwidth.

Solution:

Follow the Steps below to specify the IP address for Backups on the ARCserve Backup server

  1. Click start -> All Programs -> CA - > ARCserve Backup -> Manager
  2. Click on Quick Start ->Administration ->Server Admin

  3. Click on Server Admin -> Multiple Network Cards

  4. Uncheck the option OS decides which network card is to be used and select the appropriate IP address and click on OK.

  5. Stop and Start all the CA ARCserve services from the Server Admin.
  6. Make Sure that All the client Machine should be able to ping the selected IP address.

Follow the Steps below to specify the IP address for Backups on the ARCserve Client Server

  1. Go the server with the multiple NIC's
  2. Click start -> All Programs -> CA - > ARCserve Backup -> Backup Agent Admin

  3. Check the option Select the IP address and select the IP address from the drop down.

  4. Click OK.
  5. Try to ping the selected IP address from the backup server.
  6. If it gives replies then we can add the server with the same IP address.


Adding the Backup Client machine on the ARCserve Backup Manager

  1. Click start -> All Programs -> CA - > ARCserve Backup -> Manager
  2. Click on quick start -> Backup
  3. Select windows systems -> Right Click and select Add machine /object

  4. Type the server name and specify the IP address and click on Add.
  5. Then click close.
