Title:  How to move an ARCserve database contained within Microsoft SQL Server to a different drive.

Perform the follow steps to move the ARCserve database to another drive:
   Step 1:  Install SQL Management Studio.

   For steps to install SQL management studio click here to open the knowledge base article.


   Step 2: Close the ARCserve Manager.


   Step 3: Stop the Database Engine on the ARCserve server.(Preferabily Stop All Ca ARCserve services)


   Step 4: In the Microsoft SQL Management studio console, under Databases right click asdb > Properties.

   Select the Files tab, and make note of the files that represent the ARCserve database.


  
    Step 5: In the Microsoft SQL Management Studio console, under Databases right click asdb > All Tasks > Detach Database...

If you still have any active connections you can select 'Drop Connections' and Click on OK.

Note: Repeat the step5 for all the databases from asdb -> asdb9 , asmsg0->asmsg9, asfile,aslog and aspath


    Step 6: Once detached move all files identified in step 3 to the new location from windows explorer.
    Within Microsoft SQL Management Studio right click Databases > All Tasks > Attach Database

   


 Step 6.  Click on ADD . This should bring up a 'Locate Database Files' Dialog.

 Browse to the new location and select the first file that you listed in step 4.

Set the drop down for 'Files of  type'  to  'ALL' (Highlighted in RED).
 Select the dat file and then select OK to attach the database.

Repeat this step until you attach all the dat files of  the databases from asdb -> asdb9 , asmsg0->asmsg9, asfile,aslog and aspath.

Step 7:   Start the Database Engine on the ARCserve server.
   

Step 8: Open the ARCserve Manager.
