Last Update: 2015-12-15 22:21:58 UTC

How CA ARCserve Backup Integrates with CA ARCserve D2D

CA ARCserve Backup integrates with CA ARCserve D2D so that you can do the following:

■ Manage CA ARCserve D2D servers from a central location.
– Add computers running CA ARCserve D2D to the CA ARCserve D2D Servers object in the Backup Manager.
– Add computers running CA ARCserve D2D to the CA ARCserve D2D Proxy Servers object in the Backup Manager.
– Add VMware vSphere proxy servers running CA ARCserve D2D to the CA ARCserve D2D Proxy Servers object in the Backup Manager.

■ Create CA ARCserve Backup sessions from CA ARCserve D2D backup data.

■ Back up CA ARCserve D2D backup sessions stored locally on CA ARCserve D2D servers to CA ARCserve Backup media.

■ Back up CA ARCserve D2D backup sessions stored remotely on proxy servers and remote shares (for example, NFS volumes on Linux servers) to CA ARCserve Backup media.

Note: CA ARCserve Backup executes the backup from the server where the CA ARCserve D2D backup sessions reside; not from the CA ARCserve D2D server.

■ Store CA ARCserve Backup sessions on tape media (libraries), disk (file system devices), and network shares.

■ Recover CA ARCserve D2D backup data at file and folder level granularity from CA ARCserve Backup media.

■ Recover Microsoft SQL Server databases and Microsoft Exchange Server mailboxes at application level granularity from CA ARCserve Backup media.

Important! CA ARCserve Backup Client Agent for Windows must be installed on the CA ARCserve D2D nodes to allow CA ARCserve Backup to integrate with CA ARCserve D2D.
