Title:  How to place CA ARCserve Backup for Netware Modules in Debug.

Description:

Various ARCserve modules can be place in debug by editing the configuration file' ASCONFIG.INI' located in SYS:\ARCSERVE

Solution

Below are the modules and the files generated when the Debug is turned ON. After changes, you must restart ARCserve.

To turn OFF debug on these modules, reverse the changes made and restart ARCserve.

In the listing below 'xx' will be a number in the file on your server and the volumes name SYS: will be whatever volume you installed ARCserve on. This is because the order of the numbering will be different from server to server.

Module Name: CATIRPC
Section:
[Loader]
CSNLM8=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\CATIRPC -d
File Generated:
sys:\arcserve\nlm\carpclog.txt
Note: This will put the module 'catirpc' in debug which is the port mapper.

Module Name: ASDB
Section:
[Loader]
CSNLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\ASDB s=y
File Generated:
sys:\etc\console.log and c:\nwserver\logger.txt
Note: This will put the module 'ASDB' in debug, ie Arcserve database

Module Name: CANWPABD
Section:
[Loader]
CSNLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\CANWPABD -d
File Generated:
Sys:\ arcserve\canwpabd.log
Note: This will put the module 'canwpabd' in debug which discovers the HBA's and loads the driver canwpa.cdm.

Module Name: ARCSERVE
Section:
[Loader]
CSNLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\ARCSERVE -d
File Generated:
Sys:\arcserve\arch$svr.log
Note: This will put the basic backup module, ie Arcserve, in debug

Module Name: TAPESVR
Section:
[Loader]
CSNLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\TAPESVR verfile
File Generated:
Sys:\arcserve\tape$svr.log
Note: This will put the module 'tapesvr' in debug for any issues related with tape drives and changers

Module Name: CAPEER
Section:
[Loader]
CSNLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\CAPEER -d
File Generated:
Sys:\system\capeer.log
Note: This will put the module 'capeer' in debug. You will have this line only if SAN option is installed.

Module Name: CACOP
Section:
[Loader]
CSNLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\CACOP -d
File Generated:
Sys:\system\cacop.log
Note: This will put the module 'cacop' in debug. You will this line only if the SAN option is installed. You will find the modules 'capeer and cacop' both on a primary server and the distributed server will only have the 'cacop' module.

Module Name: CHEYFCBD
Section:
[Loader]

CSNLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\CHEYFCBD -d
File Generated:
Sys:\arcserve\cheyfcbd.log
Note: This will put the module 'cheyfcbd' in dubug. This module deals with devices attached to a Fibre channe

Module Name: DISCOVER
Section:
[Loader]
NLMxx=SYS:\ARCSERVE|NLM|DISCOVER d=y
File Generated:
Sys:\arcserve\rpcdisc.log
Note: This will put the module 'discover' in debug. The discovery module is generally used for communication between manager and the netware server.

Module Name: NWAGENT
Section:
[NWagentLoader]
CSNLMxx=SYS:\NWAgent.11\NLM\NWAGENT ARP -d
File Generated:
sys:\nwagent\nwagent.log
Note: This will put the 'nwagent' in debug on the server where client agent for netware is installed. The asconfig.ini file for the nwagent can be found under sys:\nwagent.
