Title:  How can I disable Windows Device Drivers

Description:

I know that Windows device Drivers must be disabled in Windows. How can this be done

Solution

Normally ARCserve will require Windows device drivers to be disabled as ARCserve is communicating with the drive using SCSI commands. This goes for the library as well as the tape drive. When disabling Windows Device Drivers, you will be requested to do a reboot.

You can disable Windows device drivers via the start menu as follows:

  • Start
  • Settings
  • Control Panel
  • Administrative Tools
  • Computer Management
  • Device Manager
  • Tape Device [Disable Tape driver]
  • Medium Changers [Disable Changer driver]

When device Drivers has been disabled, it will be covered by a red cross in the Device Manager Window

We do not recommend that you remove the windows driver. It you do, chances are that the drivers will be automatically install upon the following reboot of the system
