CA ARCSERVE BACKUP FOR WINDOWS COMMON: 12.1
Up to 255 devices including FSD and Non-FSD device are supported in ARCserve r12 SP1; 255 is the limitation for devices of all types. If user creates more FSDs while Non-FSD devices(e.g. tape drives) exist, user may fail to create a new FSD with an 'Unknown error ID' when the max device limit(255) is reached.

Applying fix T5E5028 can solve this problem. After applying T5E5028:
- By default, the user can only create up to 128 File System Devices(FSD). An error message will appear if user tries to add the 129th FSD.
- For the user who wants to use more than 128 FSD, he can add a DWORD MaxFSD under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCServe Backup\Base\TapeEngine\CONFIG] and set it to the number of FSD he prefers to use.
- If the registry value MaxFSD exceeds 255, the max FSD limit will be reset to 255.
