Title:  How to obtain the MAPI/CDO version.

Description:

CA ARCserve Exchange document level agent depends on MAPI/CDO to communicate with Exchange server.

From Exchange 2007, Exchange server no longer includes a built-in MAPI/CDO. The client needs to download and install it separately.

The MAPI/CDO full name is 'Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1', and its version can be obtained from the Windows registry, or file properties.

Solution:

There are 2 approaches to obtain MAPI/CDO version.

Approach 1: Check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{5A8751A2-684E-4D42-846C-3A58CE36C1F9}\DisplayVersion

Approach 2: Go to the MAPI/CDO installation folder as the follows: C:\Program Files(x86)\ExchangeMapi\

  1. Right-click EMSMDB32.dll
  2. Select properties,
  3. Go to 'Details' tab.

The file version indicates MAPI/CDO version.

Note: Only applies to separately installed Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 package.
