arcserve-KB : arcserve HBBU console returns error unable to load groups

Error Message:

When we login to the HBBU console , below message is been reported:

'The web server encountered an error'

Description:

From the caarcappsvc-stdout .xxxx..log

Get connection object failed.Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Failed to start database 'VSPHERE_DB' with class loader org.apache.catalina.loader.StandardClassLoader@2957c7bf, see the next exception for details.)

com.ca.arcserve.edge.app.base.dao.DaoException

Solution:

The above message could be observed when there are corruption within vSphere_DB ( derby database) that arcserve HBBU uses. The database corruption is caused due to inconsistent transaction data in logs.After deleting the logs, the database will return to normal state and can start up. 

1.       Stop HBBU service

2.       Delete all files in  “C:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve Central Applications\Configuration\VSPHERE_DB\log”

3.       Restart HBBU service

Note - If this vSphere_DB (Derby Database) is corrupted/offline the backup would not run.
