arcserve-KB : arcserve Central Application Reporting: Reports show an Error message unable to connect to Database

Error Message:

'Error connecting to the database. Make sure that CA arcserve UDP service and database are running and the database configuration settings are correct.'

Description:

When trying to access arcserve UDP Reports a pop up window open with the error message

'Error connecting to the database. Make sure that CA arcserve UDP service and database are running and the database configuration settings are correct.'

The arcserve UDP services and SQL Database Instance of arcserve UDP are running fine

ARCAPP.log show the following entry which seems to be a language related problem:

while converting a nvarchar-data type into datetime-datatype the value is beyond a valid range

or

while converting a varchar-data type into datetime-datatype the value is beyond a valid range

Solution:

1.      Stop UDP services.

2.      Locate the path

a.      C:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve Central Applications\

b.      Search for file named db_configuration.xml.

3.      Edit db_configuration.xml, add line 

' SET DATEFORMAT ymd; ' (without quotas)

a.      Under version tab to the xml.

4.      Start the UDP services.
