arcserve-KB : How to disable makeup jobs submission when the backup job fails in arcserve D2D due to Source machine unavailable?

Last Update: 2016-11-23 17:15:31 UTC

There is a retry mechanism when a backup job fails in ARCserve D2D either due to unavailability of the Machine or Powered off. If you want to disable it and do not want to run a  job when the Source Machine is not available.

Please follow the steps provided below to disable it :

Resolution :

You will need to look out for RetryPolicy.XML under the following directory 'X:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve D2D\Configuration'. Replace X:\ with the drive letter where CA ARCserve D2D is installed.

Check for the entry 'MissedEnabled' which has the value set to 'true'. Change the value to 'false' and save the file, now the jobs would not run when the Source Machine is not available.

Note:-There would be another 'RetryPolicy' for 'JobTypeName='Catalog'', do not change the value here as it would not create a makeup catalog job when the catalog job fails; hence the catalog would not be available.
