CA ARCserve D2D Installation fails with errors:

- Install cannot continue because of communication failure.

-Fatal error during installation.

The following information will be seen in the installation logs.

Prodwiz.log :

The return code of setup.exe is:1603
Return code = 1603
Fatal error during installation.
Return code = 1603


Fatal Error: The driver installation failed. ErrorCode:5
LaunchUMDFDriverInstaller(UMDF driver) End
Do not need protect the install path accroding property PROTECTINSTPATH in the msi package.
Action ended 14:46:23: CallPostInstall. Return value 3.
Action ended 14:46:23: INSTALL. Return value 3.

From the log it shows that the UMDF Driver installation is failing with error 5 which refers to 'Access is Denied'.


1. Click on Start->Run->Regedit.

2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost

3. Right click on the SvcHost and click on Permissions.

4. Assign Full control to User Account which is being used to launch the setup.

5. Run the setup again.
