arcserve-KB : How to collect the directory listing of the backup destination folder for a specific D2D machine?

Last Update: 2015-12-15 22:31:48 UTC

Description:

This document explains about collecting the directory listing (dir /s) of the backup destination folder for a specific D2D Machine. This information would be required by support while troubleshooting backup, merge, purge related issues.

1) Browse to the backup destination folder.

     a) Local Destination

Ex:- Say for example the backup destination drive is 'H:\', the name of the share is 'Backups' and the name of the ARCserve D2D
machine is 'Server1'. Then browse to 'H:\Backups\Server1' from the command prompt.

         i) From the command prompt type,
             cd 'H:\Backups\Server1'

         ii) Now type,
             dir /s > x:\temp\dirdest.txt
(Replace x:\ with the drive letter where you want to create the output files)

     b) Remote Destination

Ex:- Say for example the backup destination server name is 'BackupDestServer', the name of the share is 'Backups' and the
name of the ARCserve D2D machine is 'Server1'. In this case the path would be \\BackupDestServer\backups\Server1.

        i) From the command prompt type, dir /s '\\BackupDestServer\backups\Server1' > x:\temp\dirdest.txt
(Replace x:\ with the drive letter where you want to create the output files)

Now the dirdest.txt file under x:\temp would have the directory listing of the backup destination folder for the specific D2D machine.
