There is a retry mechanism when a backup job fails in ARCserve D2D. If you want to disable it and do not want to run a makeup job when the backup job fails in Arcserve D2D; Please follow the steps provided below to disable it.

You will need to look out for RetryPolicy.XML under the following directory 'X:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve D2D\Configuration'. Replace X:\ with the drive letter where CA ARCserve D2D is installed.

Check for the entry 'RetryPolicy' which has 'JobTypeName='Backup'', the value for 'Enabled' would be set to 'true'. Change the value to 'false' and save the file, now the makeup jobs would not run when the backup job fails.

Note:-There would be another 'RetryPolicy' for 'JobTypeName='Catalog'', do not change the value here as it would not create a makeup catalog job when the catalog job fails; hence the catalog would not be available.
