Solution:

Steps to configure alert email notification in CA ARCserve D2D

  1. Select the CA ARCserve D2D User Interface using one of the following ways,

    1. Right Click on the CA ARCserve D2D Monitor which is seen in the System Tray. Select 'Open CA ARCserve D2D' from the menu.

    2. Go to Start->All Programs->CA->CA ARCserve D2D-> Select 'CA ARCserve D2D'.
  2. Login to CA ARCserve D2D User Interface and select 'Backup Settings' from the tasks.
  3. Select the 'Advanced' tab from the Backup Settings.

  4. Under Notifications, select the events for which you want to send an alert email notification. There are four options available,

    1. Missed jobs.
    2. Backup, Restore or Export job failure/crash.
    3. Backup, Restore or Export job success.
    4. Destination free space is less than a specific limit (in % or MB).
  5. Once you select the events for which you want to send an alert notification, you would see the Email Settings button enabled.

  6. Click on the 'Email Settings' button. From this dialog you can specify email settings such as the mail server, port number, authentication details if the mail server needs authentication, subject title, from which the email is coming, the email recipients, and enabling and defining your proxy settings. After specifying the required information, click on 'OK'.

    Note:-

    1. The Service drop down specifies the email provider service to use for sending the alert notifications. The available options are Google Mail, Yahoo Mail, Live Mail, and Other.

      • If you select Other, you must identify the mail server and corresponding port number to be used. This is the default setting.
      • If you select Google Mail, Yahoo Mail, or Live Mail the mail server and port number fields are automatically populated.
    2. Use SSL

      Specifies if the email server requires an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection to transmit data securely via the internet.
    3. Send STARTTLS

      Specifies if the email server requires a STARTTLS (Start TLS extension) command issued to initiate a secure SMTP connection between servers.
  7. From the backup settings screen click on 'Save Settings' to save the changes.
