Title:  How to change server communication protocol from http to https?

Description:

CA ARCserve D2D uses the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to communicate among all of its components, this is the default installation settings. There may be some concerns about the security of passwords communicated between these components, in this case the communication protocol can be changed from http to https. CA ARCserve D2D includes utilities to change the communication protocol from HTTP to HTTPS and vice-versa.

Solution:

CA ARCserve D2D includes the utilities 'changeToHttp.bat' and 'changeToHttps.bat' to change the communication protocol from http to https and vice-versa, these files are located in the BIN folder of CA ARCserve D2D installation directory.

Note: After you change the protocol from HTTP to HTTPS or from HTTPS to HTTP, you need to restart the browser and reconnect to CA ARCserve D2D.

Steps to change the communication protocol from HTTP to HTTPS:-

  • Launch the 'changeToHttps.bat' utility tool from the following location:

    C:\Program Files\CA\ARCserve D2D\BIN\
(The location may vary depending upon the CA ARCserve D2D installation path.)
  • When the protocol has been successfully changed, the following message will be displayed:

'Protocol has been changed to HTTPS. Use https://localhost:8014 to access CA ARCserve D2D system.'
  • Now use https://localhost:8014 to access CA ARCserve D2D. (If the port number has been changed during or after the installation, use the appropriate port number.)

Note: When the protocol is changed to HTTPS, a warning is displayed in the web browser because of a self-signed security certificate and will ask you to either ignore the warning and proceed or add that certificate to the browser to prevent that warning from coming back in future.
