arcserve-KB : UDP |AFFlt Warning| Shutdown signature is missing in Bitmap file \Device\HarddiskVolume4\ArcVoltrc.dat. The next incremental backup will be converted

Last Update: 2018-01-08 17:28:58 UTC
Environment:
Windows 2008 R2
Oracle version 11
UDP 6.5 U1

Problem:

The below AFFlt warning message appears in the event log when the Oracle Cluster Resource is changed from one node to another node.

Warning Message:

German:

English:
The Message says:

Source: AFFlt
Event ID: 12

Shutdown signature is missing in Bitmap file \Device\HarddiskVolume4\ArcVoltrc.dat
The next incremental backup will be converted to Verify Backup.

Observation:
The above warning message appears only “If the cluster resource is moved from one node to the other and the UDP agent is installed on that cluster node. If the UPD agent is not installed, this warning will not appear.”

Troubleshooting:

  • Verify if Antivirus is deactivated on both the cluster nodes
  • Verify if any other application other than Oracle is running on these Servers
  • Run the command SC Query AFFLT to ensure the driver is installed
  • Make sure this warning message doesn’t have any impact on the Backup Job

Solution:

In Oracle Cluster, when the database is moved from one node to another, the related node will launch/mount the related volume.
As the volume is new to the current node, this Warning message appears in the event log.
